Purpose of Advocacy

Purpose of the Advocacy Service

The purpose of the Advocacy Service is to provide an independent and confidential advocacy support for student members on academic and general welfare issues, which are impacting on their studies. The Service supports and assists students in an enabling style to resolve issues and problems at the lowest appropriate level.

The Service also has a role in providing information to student members on their rights and responsibilities regarding academic processes and systems within Massey University Palmerston North.

Another aspect of the role is to maintain effective working relationships with key groups and individuals within the student body and Massey University eg Student Advisory Services, Halls of Residence, Budget Advisory services, Student Health Counselling services and Accommodation Office, International Student Support College staff etc and to help promote best practice in good relationships between students and academic staff.
